Job Overview

Our client in the Mining sector is looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join their team.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other relevant technical discipline (NQF Level 7).
  • Government Certificate of Competency (GCC factoriesis compulsory.
  • Minimum 6 – 8 years experience in field related to the projects, preferably in mining.
  • 5 years supervisory experience.
  • Registration with a relevant professional body will be advantageous.
  • Experience in project site management (Mechanical, Electrical and C & I projects).
  • Experience in contract management.
  • Excellent knowledge of mining legislation including Mine Health and Safety Act.
  • Sound knowledge of mining operations and processes.
  • Project Management skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Medical fitness test will be required.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct investigations into the feasibility of opportunities identified (including scoping, pre-feasibility and/ or feasibility phases) and reporting.
  • Accurate project planning and design for implementation phase.
  • Effective management and coordination of the project design management process.
  • Project implementation management for designated projects.
  • Market analysis and application of best practice and benchmarking on equipment selection.
  • Provide information to enable financial forecasting, capital costing and budget execution.
  • Information sharing and keeping abreast of new technology and best practices through frequent stakeholder interactions.
  • Manage/Coordinate contractor activities on-site i.e., the quality of work performed on the project as well as the project progress.
  • Involved in effectively managing project costs and expenditures as well as continuous reporting on project progress.
